For us motorheads, every now and then, there’s this ripple in our lives that completely takes us in. This month, it was Porsche introducing their brand new 911, the Porsche 992. And it’s safe to say Porsche delivered once more.

They pulled it off by designing a new car that’s essentially an evolution of their previous cars, aiming for the future without forgetting where it all started. And that’s no accident. Porsche knows all too well that when it overdoes changes to their designs (hello there 996), the loyal fan base gets up in arms, and no one likes angry Germans.

So again, we see the true Porsche front on the new 911 and a back side which is in line with the Panamera and SUV models, but also hinting back to the air-cooled Porsches with the full red brake strip on the back side.

To demonstrate that sense of heritage, Porsche introduced the 911 in the USA in an amazing show, showing Porsche 911 history one model at a time (see video).

Engine wise the new 911 is a beast. All models will carry turbos on board, making the base model even faster than the previous 991’s GTS (!). As always, one can hardly imagine where Porsche will go from here. We’ll find out in the upcoming years, since Porsche is known for introducing countless versions of their 911’s, with the Turbo being the fan favourite, but the GT2 and GT3 models (below) being the ultimate weapons.

It’s hitting the showroom in March 2019, so easy on the Christmas gifts, you’ve got a lot of saving up to do.
