According to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, the Rotterdam political party Leefbaar Rotterdam (LR) wants participants in a demonstration against Israel to be prosecuted. The demonstration on Saturday, of which members of the local muslim party NIDA were a part, protested placing detection-gates on the Temple Mount.

LR-councilwoman Tanya Hoogwerf claims that during the demonstration people shouted “Khaybar, Khaybar ya yahud, Jaish Muhammad, sa ya’ud,” which can be translated as:

Jews, remember Khaybar, the army of Mohammed returns.

The cry refers to the Battle of Khaybar, which ended with a Jewish tribe being massacred. LR has demanded in writing that Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb (Labour) take action.

NIDA-leader Nourdin el Ouali doesn’t rule out the possibility that members of his party were present at the protest. His response is agitated:

If antisemitic slogans were chanted, I disapprove of that. I’m just questioning if what Leefbaar claims, has really been said. That party has made similar accusations in the past, with regard to the demonstration for human rights in Gaza that attracted 10.000 people. Those were unfounded.
