Italian motorcycle brand Ducati has been on sale for some months now. After acquiring the company for Audi in 2012, VAG (Volkswagen-Audi Group) never really seems to have been too interested in integrating the brand into the group. Except for one tantalising proposal, that didn’t progress beyond prototype stage, there was little of the synergy and sharing across the board VAG is notorious for.
Reuters broke the news yesterday, that Harley-Davidson might be interested in buying its competitor.
The deal would see VAG at least make a profit on its acquisition, and return Ducati to a role outside of the corporate behemoth that doesn’t really seem to know what it wants with the company. Hopefully, it will continue to make the special kind of bikes motorcycle enthusiasts love the brand for.
