Despite featuring very few women and people of colour, Nolan’s new movie “Dunkirk” is apparently amazing
Master filmmaker Christopher Nolan is at it again. His latest film is the war movie Dunkirk, and the critics almost all agree that it’s absolutely amazing. The Wallstreet Journal said Nolan “has created something new in the annals of war films (…) an intimate epic,” and the San Francisco Chronicle called it “one of the best war films ever made.”
Well if that alone did not get you excited, listen to this; about 75 percent of the film that’s been shot on IMAX film, which means enormous, sweeping shots of beaches and a super-immersive experience. Nolan himself called the movie a chance to experience “virtual reality without the goggles.” Add to this that the score is produced by Hans Zimmer, and yeah, we’re pretty excited.
The only one complaining seemed to be USA Today, which wrote about the historically true story that:
“The trio of timelines can be jarring as you figure out how they all fit, and the fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color may rub some the wrong way.”
Oh well. The movie is out, so our advice would be to see this movie on the biggest IMAX screen you can find! For now, enjoy the trailer guys.
