Yeah, so this is why advanced alien civilisations elect to ignore earth and it’s pretty safe to say performance art, spoken word art and poetry slams will be the death of us all. Tonight Le Pen will be debating Macron head on, so the artist will probably go barking mad. But since he’s an artist, insanity too, is art.
And if all this feels like unbearable repetitive kitsch, that’s because it is. Art critic Octavio Paz called it out when he dismantled modern art in ’92 for losing its critical function:
“It’s denials have for years been ritual repetitions. Rebellion has become a method. Critique rethoric. Transgression method. The denial is no longer creative.”
