A knife-wielding man shouting “Allahu Akbar” has been arrested by Spanish border police after attacking and injuring a policeman, around 07:35 Tuesday morning. The incident took place at a border post between the Moroccan town of Beni Enzar and the Spanish city of Melilla.
The incident was soon confirmed by the Spanish police and the Minister for the Interior Juan Ignacio Ziodo, who tweeted that:
“the fast, coordinated and professional police action has prevented a serious incident in Beni Enzar.“

According to Reuters, the Government Delegation said that the attacker is possibly of Moroccan nationality and has been arrested immediately after the attack. Footage of the arrest has been quickly shared by multiple news outlets.
Melilla is a Spanish enclave, located on mainland Africa, that was conquered in 1497. Together with Ceuta, the city is a common destination for African migrants trying to reach Europe.
